CareArc is getting set for its annual Flu Shot Clinic next month.
The drive-thru event will be held Thursday, October 8th from 7am to 4pm at the health center located at 420 West 15th Avenue in Emporia. Residents can drive under the canopy on the west side of the building to receive their flu shot without exiting their vehicles. The format of the drive-thru is designed to make it easy and more convenient to receive a flu shot during a workday or a lunch break.
The clinic is open to everyone ages six months and older. There is no appointment necessary.
The standard dose vaccine will be offered at this event. COVID-19 vaccines, nasal sprays, high-dose and egg-free vaccines will not be provided. Those with severe egg allergies are recommended to speak with their care provider before being vaccinated.
Community Health Nurse Stacie Acuna says, “A yearly flu shot is one of the easiest ways to protect yourself, your family, and the people around you”.
To keep the line moving, it is encouraged to wear a short-sleeve shirt and make sure to have a completed consent form for every person being vaccinated that day. Forms can be found at carearc.org/forms. There will also be paper forms at the event. The vaccine is free with most insurance plans; however, for those without insurance, the cost is $30, which can be paid by cash or check at the time of service.
