Emporia State senior Tyler Schultze has been named as a semifinalist for the Campbell Trophy. The award is given to a player who is the best football scholar-athlete in the country. Schultze is sixth in the MIAA in passes defended and is one away from tying the Hornet career record He has ranked in the top ten nationally in passes defended each of the past two years and has twice been an All-MIAA honoree and was named to this year’s CFBNetwork Preseason All-American list. He’s a two-time First Team Academic All-American and is the only MIAA player to make the semifinalist list for the award. Finalists will travel to Las Vegas where the winner will be announced on December 8.
