The Kansas State High School Activities Association has released classification and enrollment numbers for non-football sports, with most area schools remaining in the same classifications they have competed in previously.
Emporia will remain in Class 5A, while Council Grove and Osage City will compete in Class 3A.
Lyndon and Chase County remain in Class 2A.
In Class 1A, Burlingame, Madison, Lebo, Waverly and Marais des Cygnes Valley will all remain in their current classification.
There were a couple of changes among area schools.
Olpe moves up from Class 1A to Class 2A, while Northern Heights drops from Class 2A to Class 1A.
The KSHSAA classification system is designed to group schools with similar enrollment numbers together, creating competition among schools of comparable size.
The classifications will apply to non-football sports and activities under the KSHSAA system.
