Emporia State volleyball fell in straight sets to seventh-ranked Nebraska-Kearney Friday night on the road.
The Lady Hornets battled early in the opening set, but the Lopers pulled away for a 25-18 win. UNK then dominated the second set, hitting an impressive .519 on the way to a 25-14 victory.
ESU came out strong in the third, taking an early 6-3 lead. But Nebraska-Kearney answered with an 8-2 run to take control, eventually closing out the match 25-17.
The Lady Hornets hit just .127 as a team, compared to .429 for the Lopers. Lavra Krizanic led Emporia State with 10 kills.
The Black and Gold fall to 13-2 (1-1) and return to action Saturday at Fort Hays State. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
