Emporia State cross country competed in its largest meet of the season Friday at the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia, Missouri.
The Hornet men finished 14th among 27 teams, led by senior Gage Chapman, who set an 8K personal best of 26:40.9 in 88th place. Freshmen Jordan Schierbaum, 91st, and Bryce Roberts, 94th, followed closely behind.
The Emporia State women placed 19th among 31 teams, with junior Emma Bartholome leading the way in 104th with a time of 23:37.5.
ESU returns to action October 12 at the D2 Pre-Nationals at Rim Rock Farm near Lawrence.
