A Missouri man is in custody following a brief vehicle pursuit that ended in Emporia Saturday afternoon.
According to Lyon County Deputy Fernando Zuniga, the incident began at approximately 12:50 pm when deputies were called to Interstate 35 mile-marker 141 for a reckless driver. According to witness reports, a gray Dodge Ram pickup was pulling a camper and allegedly failing to maintain its lane while traveling at unsafe speeds.
Lyon County Deputy Morse located and attempted to stop the vehicle; however, the driver, identified as 51-year-old Bryce Lowmaster of Missouri, failed to yield and a pursuit ensued. The Emporia Police Department became involved in the situation when the pursuit entered the city limits.
Lowmaster’s truck finally came to a rest at the intersection of 4th and Union after striking a mailbox. Lowmaster was arrested and taken to the Lyon County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence and felony flee and elude, among other charges.
Formal charges are pending. No injuries were reported.
