More showers and thunderstorms are on the way for the KVOE listening area, but the greatest concern may come later in the week.
The National Weather Service in Topeka expects scattered showers and thunderstorms today and tonight. Forecasters say the storms should generally remain weak, with a low chance of widespread hazardous weather this weekend. Sunday and Monday look quieter, although some light rain or drizzle remains possible.
Attention then turns to Tuesday through Thursday, when multiple rounds of heavy rain could move across eastern Kansas. Across the period through next Friday, some locations could receive two to four inches of rainfall, with locally higher totals possible. That rain could lead to flooding in portions of the KVOE listening area, particularly where heavier downpours repeatedly hit the same places.
Residents should keep an eye on updated forecasts and any flood alerts issued over the coming days. If you encounter water covering a roadway, do not try and pass through it, turn around don’t drown.
