Lyon County deputies say an Emporia woman was hurt when her bike hit a pickup truck north of the city Sunday afternoon.
Deputy Daniel Calvert says the incident developed shortly before 4 pm in the 1300 block of Road 270, near the junction with Road N. Calvert says 36-year-old Samantha Morrison was cycling westbound on Road 270 when her bike hit a rut in the road and went across center into eastbound traffic. Her bike then hit a stopped pickup driven by 69-year-old Michael Hanks, hometown not listed.
Hanks called 911 to report the crash. Once Emporia Fire/EMS arrived and assessed the situation, an ambulance crew took Morrison to Newman Regional Health with unspecified injuries. Hanks was not listed as hurt.
