The Emporia and Area Athletes of the Week were announced Monday morning.
Emma Beatty is the EHS Athlete of the Week. She’s been a consistent top-five finisher for the Lady Spartans and secured a bronze medal Saturday in Lawrence, one night after being named Homecoming Queen.
Abbott Bailey of Olpe is the Area Athlete of the Week. The senior rushed for 143 yards and two touchdowns in the Eagles’ impressive 29-0 victory over Pittsburg Colgan.
