The Emporia community will come together this weekend for the 2026 Emporia Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
The annual event will take place Saturday, October 3, at the Lyon County Fairgrounds, giving area residents an opportunity to raise awareness and support efforts related to Alzheimer’s disease.
Andrea Stockwell recently joined the KVOE Morning Show to preview this year’s event. She discussed the Promise Garden Ceremony, which will take place before the walk gets underway.
Stockwell said one of her favorite parts of the event is seeing the community come together in support of those affected by Alzheimer’s.
Funds raised through the walk will support the Alzheimer’s Association’s efforts, including programs and services for individuals and families affected by the disease, as well as research and other initiatives.
Stockwell also shared more about where the funds raised through the event will go.
Registration for the Emporia Walk to End Alzheimer’s begins at 8:45 a.m. Saturday at the Lyon County Fairgrounds, located at 2700 U.S. Highway 50 in Emporia.
The Promise Garden Ceremony is scheduled for 9:45 a.m., followed by the walk at 10 a.m.
The event is open to community members who want to participate, support the cause and help bring greater awareness to Alzheimer’s disease in the Emporia area.
