The next three months will be jam-packed with activities continuing to celebrate the agency’s 50th anniversary.
The list of activities and events will begin in October and include a collaboration with the Lyon County History Center. The new exhibit, “History of Hope: 50 Years of SOS,” will be available through the month of October and will detail the origins of the local women’s advocacy center.

Edwards says the history contained within the exhibit not only celebrates the agency, but the entire community.
A community forum for the exhibit, including a panel discussion with SOS founders, will take place October 22 at 6 pm also at the Lyon County History Center. Additional events through the month will include a quartet of profit-sharing nights with IHOP on October 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th, with 20 percent of all proceeds going to support SOS operations.
Finally, the agency will once again benefit from the annual Phi Delta Theta pole sit taking place homecoming weekend, October 23rd and 24th. Edwards says the month of October is always a busy one for the agency, as October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, where visibility is of the utmost importance.
