The Emporia State soccer defense survived an offensive barrage from Pittsburg State to salvage a scoreless tie at the Gorilla Soccer Pitch on Friday afternoon. The Gorillas dominated possession and every major offensive statistic, but Terra Rybuck came up with a career-high 10 stops in net to save the day for the Lady Hornets. E-State was outshot 19-3 including 10-2 in shots on goal. Pittsburg Stage generated a staggering 14 corner kicks to just two for the Black & Gold, but ESU kept the ball out of the back of the net to pick up their third-straight shutout. ESU (5-2-3, 2-0-2 MIAA) is on a two-game tying streak and is unbeaten in their last six matches and have given up just three goals over that span, but the offense has evaporated as the Lady Hornets haven’t found a goal in their last 180 minutes of action. Aubrey Seltman played all 90 minutes on the backline for ESU to help earn the shutout. Emporia State heads toward Edmond to face Central Oklahoma on Sunday.
