The Emporia High volleyball team fought through a demanding six-match slate Saturday at the Centennial League tournament, finishing 2-3 overall on Junction City.
The Lady Spartans notched a quick 25-17, 25-18 straight-set victory over Topeka and ground out a hard-fought, three-set win against host Junction City, 25-17, 20-25, 25-17.
Emporia found tough sledding against the remainder of the league field, dropping a trio of straight-set decisions to Hayden, Manhattan and Washburn Rural.
The Lady Spartans shift their focus back to non-league play with a 14-9 record. Emporia welcomes Ottawa to Spartan Gym on Tuesday.
