If you wanted information about just about anything health-related, the annual Interactive Health Fest was the place to visit.
Flinthills Mall hosted the event again this year, and once again students from Emporia State University’s Health and Human Promotions department took center stage with a number of stations. Senior Harper Schoendaller of Baldwin City was struck by the range of ages that attended.
Schoendaller was manning the snack station. It was a station she thoroughly enjoyed.
Health and Human Performance students look forward to the event as a way to make connections and build their resumes. Schoendaller is no exception. She’s looking to get into occupational therapy after considering physical therapy for quite some time.
Besides the ESU corner and work from Healthier Lyon County and the United Way of the Flint Hills, event partners focusing on physical and mental health were included, as were state agencies like KansasWorks and city representation through the David Traylor Zoo. Lyon County deputies also offered free child seat checks for parents.
