The Emporia State football team moved up a spot to No. 9 in the AFCA coaches poll this week while staying at 10th in the D2Football.com Media Poll. There wasn’t much movement in the top half of the polls with the top 13 teams in the coaches poll all winning or remaining idle a week ago. Ferris State is still the unanimous No. 1 pick followed by Harding, Kutztown, CSU Pueblo and Minnesota State-Mankato. ESU is the top-ranked MIAA school followed by Northwest Missouri at No. 14 while Central Missouri jumps into the poll at No. 24. It’s the first time the Hornets have been in the top ten since starting the 2017 season as the preseason No. 4 team. ESU heads to Missouri Southern on Saturday looking to match the 2015 team’s 6-0 start when they face the 1-4 Lions. Coverage begins at 1:00 p.m. on Mix 104.9
