The Emporia High volleyball team secured a four-set victory over Ottawa on Tuesday night, defending their home court with a 25-16, 23-25, 25-18, 25-13 win.
The Lady Spartans set the tone early with a commanding opening set before Ottawa responded to take a tight second set. The Black and Red quickly refocused, taking control of the final two sets to close out the match convincingly.
Despite the victory, Head Coach Ping Wang had higher expectations for her squad’s efficiency.
For senior setter Kaylee DeWitt, the team’s relentless preparation in the days leading up to the match proved to be the decisive factor in overcoming Ottawa’s second-set push.
With the win, Emporia improves to 15-9. The Lady Spartans won’t have much time to celebrate as they hit the road on Thursday for a triangular in Hillsboro.
