A Flint Hills Technical College Student has been recognized at the national and international level for his dedication and excellence in the classroom.
FHTC announced Wednesday that power plant technology student Nicholas Sweeter was named a 2026 Chime Workforce Scholar, receiving a $1,000 scholarship to help cover educational expenses. Speaking of Sweeter’s accomplishment, Power Plant instructor Alex Partridge stated in the aforementioned news release, “Nick demonstrates an effort and maturity not often seen. He has experience operating various types of machines and equipment across different types of industries.”
The scholarship is awarded by the Phi Theta Kappa honor society, a national and international organization, which recognizes academic excellence and provides leadership and scholarship opportunities to two-year institutions. PTK has more than 4.4 million members with 1,250 chapters active across 11 countries, with 220,000 active members in the U.S., including FHTC’s Beta Omega Omega chapter, which was sanctioned by the organization in December of last year.
