A criminal case against a man accused in Lyon County District Court of distributing drugs has stopped for now.
Donnie Cates was arrested this past Saturday on suspicion of drug distribution, drug and paraphernalia possession and motor vehicle theft. He was later charged with distributing up to 100 grams of methamphetamine and up to 100 dosage units of alprazolam, along with drug and paraphernalia possession — but Cates was not at his official first court appearance, according to documents on the Kansas Judicial Branch online portal, so prosecutors asked for the case to be dismissed without prejudice, meaning the case can refiled.
Additional case details are pending.
