CPR training happens periodically, and a special training event is coming Saturday.
Little Lyons is holding the session from 10 am to 2 pm. Spokesman Duane Billinger says the event will serve as a training opportunity for some, a refresher for others and an education point for all because of its focus on Sudden Cardiac Arrest — which has a completely different cause from other cardiac issues, including a heart attack.
Billinger, a paramedic and a guest on KVOE’s Morning Show this week, says CPR may not reach its peak effectiveness for one simple reason: fear of additional pain.
The training session is free and involves CPR work on mannequins with live feedback on how effective their work is. About 500 people a month in Kansas have Sudden Cardiac Arrest.
Interested residents can call Billinger at 316-300-1604. Sudden Cardiac Arrest Month is this month.
