Three Waskarusa residents, including one juvenile, were hospitalized after a vehicle accident Saturday afternoon.
The accident occurred just before 3:50 pm at the intersection of 117th and Valencia Road. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2022 Polaris RZR XP was traveling eastbound on 117th Road when the driver, 11-year-old Cole Johnson, had their vision obstructed by dust and failed to navigate a right turn at a T intersection.
The Polaris then overturned and came to a rest on its side in the east ditch of Valencia Road. Johnson and two passengers, 31-year-old Amanda Johnson and 37-year-old Erik Johnson also of Wakarusa, were taken to Stormont Vail Hospital with reported minor injuries.
None of the occupants were wearing safety restraints at the time of the accident.
