The Emporia State football team picked up two more weekly football awards from the MIAA after moving to 6-0 last weekend with a 35-21 victory at Missouri Southern. Senior linebacker Landon Boss picked up his eighth career MIAA Defensive Player of the Week Award and sophomore quarterback Jamison Sarver was named the Offensive Player of the Week. Boss went 31 yards for a touchdown on a sack-strip-scoop-and-score for his third touchdown of the season. Boss is the nation’s leader in tackles for loss and he is second in forced fumbles. Sarver was extremely efficient completing 38-of-44 passes for 312 yards and a career-high four touchdowns last week while connecting with 10 different receivers. He has thrown for over 300 yards passing in each of the last two games. The Hornets are up to No. 8 in the AFCA coaches poll and No. 9 in the D2Football.com Media Poll and return to action Saturday to host Central Oklahoma. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. on Mix 104.9.
