The voter registration deadline is coming at noon Tuesday, and Kansas Secretary of State Scott Schwab is encouraging everyone to make sure are set to make their voices heard come election day.
Schwab stopped by the KVOE studios Monday to share some important information to that end, starting with double-checking your voter registration status.
Schwab also reminded residents that even if they believe they are registered, they should double-check, not just if they have had a recent change of address.
Following the registration deadline Tuesday, advance voting will begin Wednesday with mail ballots going out to voters. Schwab, again, had some advice for voters, starting with not relying on the three-day grace period for mail ballots that remain in legal dispute at this time.
He also says residents should hand-deliver their ballots to their respective destinations.
Those who have not yet applied for a mail ballot may still do so through October 27th. Also, Wednesday, Lyon County will begin its now-traditional off-site advance voting Wednesday through this upcoming Saturday at the Lyon County Fairgrounds Anderson Building.
Offsite voting hours are 10 am to 4 pm Oct. 14, 10-6 on Oct 15, 10-4 on Oct. 16 and 9-1 on Oct. 17. In-Office advance voting will begin October 19th inside the Lyon County Courthouse and end at noon November 2.
The General Election is Tuesday, November 3rd, with polls opening at 7 am and closing at 7 pm. KVOE News will have live election night coverage beginning shortly after the polls close on KVOE 1400 am, 96.9 FM, and KVOE.com.
