Halloween is approaching soon, and Lyon County Sheriff Jeff Cope is urging parents to sign up for OffenderWatch and related information about registered offenders.
The Sheriff’s Office has used OffenderWatch for years to keep tabs on over 100 registered offenders living and/or working in Lyon County.
Residents can use online mapping and address-search items to find registered offenders — key at this time of year with trick-or-treat routes getting set and no state law in Kansas telling offenders thay cannot take part in trick-or-treating activities. Residents can also get automated alerts when registered offenders move to an area near a selected address.
