Rivalries and Playoff Positioning Highlight Week Seven

Week seven of the high school football season features two Area Games of the Week.

Madison looks to extend its winning streak to six games as St. Paul comes to town this Friday. The Bulldogs are coming off a thrilling 74-72 shootout victory over Marmaton Valley. Reigning KVOE Area Athlete of the Week, Cory Yowell, aims to build on his explosive five-touchdown performance to keep Madison rolling. On the other side, the Indians sit at 0-6 on the year, with a defense that has surrendered at least 38 points in every contest.

Madison head coach Nathan Teichgraeber is still trying to get accustomed to how high-scoring 8-man games can get.

Catch all the action starting with pregame coverage at 6:45 p.m. on Country 101.7 FM.

Over in Olpe, the Eagles return home to host Northeast on Friday. Olpe is looking to bounce back into the win column after a tough 28-21 loss to McLouth following a late Bulldog touchdown. The Eagles enter the matchup at 4-2, while Northeast comes in at 2-4.

Burlingame head coach Jeff Slater has been preaching the critical importance of a fast start to his squad.

For Hartford, head coach Dalen Kistner says the primary focus all week in practice has been up front on blocking.

Finally, a classic rivalry rekindles in Waverly as Lebo and Waverly clash in a high-stakes Lyon County League matchup with major District 3 standings implications. The 6-0 Wolves have cruised through their schedule untroubled, while the Bulldogs ride into Friday on a four-game winning streak.
