Haiden Ziglar of Olpe and Ellei McCrory of Northern Heights captured the individual titles at the Lyon County League Cross Country Championships on Thursday at The Orchard in Emporia.
Ziglar secured the boys championship in dominating fashion, posting a winning time of 18:30. He pulled away from the rest of the field to edge out Northern Heights runner Cooper Spade by 47 seconds, while Lebo’s Jesse Durst took home the bronze medal.
In the girls division, McCrory set the pace to capture the gold medal and spark a commanding performance for the Wildcats. Northern Heights claimed the top two spots on the podium as Josie Tiffany crossed the finish line just over three minutes later for second place, and Olpe’s Sophia Coffman rounded out the top three with a third-place finish.
