Emporia High’s Alexa Tovar and Chelsea Mendez capped off a remarkable postseason run with a 10th-place finish at the KSHSAA Class 5A State Tennis Tournament in Andover.
After battling their way into Day 2 following back-to-back victories on Friday, the Spartan duo competed in Saturday’s final rounds to lock in a top-10 finish overall.
Entering the state tournament seeded #21, Tovar and Mendez outperformed their initial seeding by 11 spots to earn 10th place in Class 5A doubles.
