Emporia High golf will send three athletes to the State Golf Meet at the Hesston Golf Course on Monday.
The Lady Spartans are led by freshman Taylen Koch, who finished fourth at regionals last week. She says she is excited for her first state tournament appearance and is aiming to make the cut for day two.
Joining Koch is teammate Kelsey Shull, who secured a spot in the state field for the second time in her high school career. Shull says remembering how nervous she was last year is helping her prepare for this trip.
Rounding out the group is dual-sport state qualifier Kynlee Maxfield. Having already reached the state tournament in wrestling, Maxfield credits her strong work ethic for earning her first career trip to golf’s biggest stage.
The two-day 5A Kansas State Golf Meet tees off Monday morning at the Hesston Golf Course.
