The 13th annual Emporia Community Foundation Match Day is still a little less than a month away, but residents don’t have to wait til then to start giving.
Nearly all forms of giving, including cash, checks, stocks, bonds and more, began being accepted at midnight Monday and will continue up until the main event itself on November 16th, according to Emporia Community Foundation Program Officer Sarah Barrett, a recent guest of KVOE’s Talk of Emporia. For those wishing to pay by check, Barrett says there is a specific way donors need to fill those out.
Barrett says that those wishing to give between now and Match Day simply need to stop by the ECF offices during normal business hours. Online credit or debit card donations will not be accepted during this period; however, Barrett says residents will once again have an earlier opportunity than in previous years to start making those contributions, noting that online donations will open a day earlier for Match Day, starting at midnight on November 15th. The online donation window will also be open later than normal, continuing through 11:59 p.m. on November 17th, an entire 24 hours after the official Match Day date.
Barrett says this is the first time the foundation has offered this extended giving window and it came by popular request from local donors.
