The National Teachers Hall of Fame is in an extremely busy time of year.
Currently, the hall is nearing the end of its nomination window for the 2027 Hall of Fame class, with NTHF Director Maddie Fennel, a recent guest of KVOE’s Morning Show, saying selection committee members will have their work cut out for them once again.
The nomination window will close on Sunday, November 1. Nominee applications will be due by December 1, with formal induction activities scheduled for June in Emporia, which will include the annual rededication of the National Memorial to Fallen Educators.
Fennel says at this time, two new names are set to be added to the memorial.
The nomination process continues as the Hall of Fame has undergone a recent physical transformation thanks to the work of Bob Haselhuhn, who completed a renovation of the hall on the campus of Emporia State earlier this year. Fennel says the renovation, among other features, will provide a more interactive experience for visitors.
During her recent appearance on KVOE’s Morning Show Thursday, Fennel previewed the 35th annual KVOE NTHF radio auction scheduled for Thursday, November 19th at the Emporia State Federal Credit Union Industrial Road location. Fennel says the auction is, once again, set to have an impressive list of items on the auction block thanks to the generosity of donors both in Emporia and across the nation.
Ahead of all of this, the Hall of Fame will be hosting a coffee and conversation event Friday morning at the hall inside Visser Hall from 8:30 am to 9:30 am.
