Just ahead of KVOE’s on-air fundraiser in support of Camp Hope, organization board members Britton Hart and Hannah Kipfer joined KVOE’s morning show on Monday to chat about the important work the summer program has done for the community in the last decade.
As local educators, Hart and Kipfer said the difference Camp Hope makes in students as they return to the classroom for the beginning of the school year is notable.
As a Match Day participant this year, Kipfer said any donations accepted during the giving window, which is open through Nov. 16, will go towards ensuring each camper gets the experience Camp Hope is known for.
For Hart and Kipfer, Camp Hope’s mission is personal– both members of the board have family members who were diagnosed with Autism. As the father of a child who participated in the summer camp, Hart said the impact Camp Hope had on his daughter Avery was incredibly positive.
An Emporia State University Health and Human Performance professor, Kipfer said this impact doesn’t just reach the campers, but the students who volunteer to work for Camp Hope as well.
For folks who are interested in donating to Camp Hope, KVOE’s on-air fundraiser will run from 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Tuesday. Text your donations in to 620-342-5863 to help provide a positive opportunity for folks in our community.
