Newman Regional Health has launched a new program with a new system to monitor patient health at the forefront.
In a news release Tuesday, the hospital announced it had recently launched its remote patient monitoring (RPM) program. Newman launched the technology on October 7th which is the first Anchor Hospital Advancement Program (AHAP) program to move from implementation to “go-live.”
The new program was established through the Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) and uses wearable technology to continuously monitor patients “to reduce complications and length of stay while easing workload demands on hospital staff. Newman CEO Cathy Pimple in the aforementioned news release stated, “Remote Patient Monitoring gives our clinical teams another layer of information and support, helping them identify changes in a patient’s condition sooner and respond appropriately. Most importantly, investments like this allow a rural hospital like ours to bring innovative technology directly to the bedside and continue providing high-quality care close to home.”
Newman was the first site to launch the program, followed by Labette Health the next week. Current plans are to fully implement the program across all Anchor hospital sites by early 2027.
