The USD 253 Emporia Board of Education held a work session on Wednesday.
The board heard presentations from area educators highlighting three focus areas– academic achievement, prep for post-grad life and post-secondary success, which board president Jami Reever said was beneficial for the board to hear, especially considering the many projects each school in the district is undertaking.
From building community partnerships to assist students with workplace learning opportunities, to giving educators the tools they need to support students in the district develop postsecondary assets– Reever said meetings like these help the board decide what to pursue in future meetings.
As strategic planning continues, Superintendent of schools Dr. David McGehee said the work sessions help identify what specifically the school district will work on going forward.
Though board work sessions are closed to the public, McGeHee said community members interested in sharing their feedback on the district’s strategic plan have an opportunity to do so at next month’s community forum.
