The David Traylor Zoo of Emporia will host its annual Boo in the Zoo on Saturday.
From 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., community members of all ages are invited to attend the zoo’s free Halloween event, which zoo director Brenda Young said will have the usual spooky activities to look forward to.
To set up the treat stations and to get the zoo ready for the costumed crowd, Young said gates will close around 2 p.m. before reopening for the event. As far as parking goes, Young said there are a few options for people, though she said attendees should take any parking they can find given the busyness of the event.
With 15,000 to 17,000 pieces of candy on hand, Young said she’s looking forward to seeing the community turn up for the event, which she said is typically just as fun for the animals as it is for those in attendance.
For those who can’t make this year’s Boo in the Zoo event, the David Traylor Zoo will host its annual Happy Holidaze and Toy Drive at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 24.
