Thousands of community members gathered downtown Saturday for Emporia Main Street’s annual Trick or Treat event, bringing fun for families and local downtown businesses.
Local businesses spent the afternoon handing out treats while welcoming potential customers downtown. Beyond the Halloween festivity, the event provided the opportunity for more foot traffic ahead of the prime-time shopping season, according to Main Streets Director Casey Woods.
The event also expanded beyond businesses directly located on Commercial Street, with additional business inside the Radius Taproom
The event concluded with the showing of Hotel Transylvania at the Emporia Granada Theater
While the Halloween activities are over, Main Street says there are still plenty of community events coming up.
There is still time to enter the annual photo costume contest. There are 4 categories, baby from ages 0-2, kids from 3-10, and older kids ages 11-17, as well as an overall family category. All photos submitted must have been taken at the downtown event. To enter, visit emporiamainstreet.com
