The Lyon County Courthouse held a swearing-in ceremony for the county’s new treasurer Monday morning.
Former deputy treasurer Sherra Kuestersteffen stepped in to fill the rest of the two-years left in the term left vacant by Sharon Gaede, who held the position for over a decade before retiring Friday.
Though stepping into the role at the busiest time of year for the motor-vehicle department feels nerve wracking for Kuestersteffen, she said she felt fortunate for the chance to lead the department.
Looking ahead, Kuestersteffen said she’s excited to carry the work of her predecessor forward while implementing a few changes of her own.
Kuestersteffen spent 11 years as a supervisor in the motor-vehicle department before stepping into her role as deputy treasurer in 2024.
