The Kansas Department of Transportation has a major pavement patching project in Emporia starting Monday.
The project will begin at the US Highway 50 and Interstate 35 junction and proceed to the west, involving both directions of I-35 between US 50 and the Kansas Turnpike interchange. Lane closures will be in place as the project progresses, with intermittent ramp closures also taking place.
Message boards and signage will be put in place to alert and guide motorists and work will take place during daylight hours Monday through Saturday. Traffic control devices will also be in place during non-work hours.
R.A. Knapp Construction of Lenexa is the prime contractor on the $524,000 project, which is expected to run through this month to the end of December, weather permitting.
Drivers are encouraged to stay alert, follow signage and keep their eyes on the road when progressing through the work zones. For more information or updates on road conditions, visit KanDrive.gov, call 511, or visit KSdot.gov/NortheastNews.
