Two Oklahoma City residents were taken to Newman Regional Health following a two-vehicle accident on the Kansas Turnpike Sunday.
Emergency crews were called to KTA mile marker 112 southbound, 15 miles south of Emporia, after a two-vehicle collision shortly after 5 pm Sunday. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2018 Buick Encore driven by 60-year-old Brenda Fritzke of Watertown Minnesota was southbound and attempted to make a U-turn through a break in the barrier wall.
The Encore was then struck by a 2008 Honda Civic driven by 24-year-old Aaron Kouri of Oklahoma City. Fritzke reportedly suffered no apparent injury, however, Kouri and a passenger 25-year-old Mercedes Kouri were both taken to Newman Regional Health with what are being called suspected minor injuries.
