The Olpe boys basketball team will be playing for a State Championship after they outscored Little River 66-52 in the semifinals of the 1A Division I State tournament Friday night.
Olpe jumped out to an 18-8 lead in the first quarter and never trailed.
Olpe Coach Chris Schmidt said it was a great team effort.
Jordan Barnard scored a team-high 24 points. Chris Olsson added 16 points. Derek Hoelting and Damon Redeker both finished with 11 points.
The Olpe boys will face South Gray in the Championship game with tipoff set for 6 pm.
The Olpe girls will play Norwich in the 1A DI Championship.
At the 5A State tournament.
In the boys semi-finals, Maize defeated Kansas City Washington 74-58.
Topeka West outscored DeSoto 61-57.
In the girls Championship game, Andover Central plays St. Thomas Aquinas at 2 pm.
In the boys Championship game, Topeka West plays Maize at 6 pm.
