Emporia State’s spring commencement activities will be held in person if current coronavirus trends hold.
On Thursday, ESU announced plans to have graduate students receive their diplomas at 6:30 pm May 14, with undergraduate students having their ceremony at 9 am May 15. Spokesperson Gwen Larson:
Welch Stadium will be used for the activities for the first time in a decade. Larson tells KVOE News students will be socially-distanced.
There will be a higher emphasis on finding out whether students will attend graduation so ESU can fine-tune its attendance plans.
Emporia State had to go virtual for the winter commencement activities this past December after canceling spring commencement last year due to COVID-19.
