The Olpe girls advanced to the 1A DI state tournament championship game with a 38-21 win over Hodgeman County Thursday afternoon.
Olpe Coach Jesse Nelson said they struggled to score but played well overall.
Olpe led 10-4 after the 1st quarter, 22-10 at halftime, and 25-16 going to the 4th quarter.
The Lady Eagles forced 34 turnovers and scored 16 points off the turnovers.
Marley Heins was the lone player to score in double figures, finishing with 15 points.
The Olpe girls will play Norwich in the Championship game Saturday with tipoff at 2 pm. Norwich outscored Doniphan West 54-49.
The Olpe boys play Little River at the 1A DI tournament in Dodge City Friday night. Olpe Coach Chris Schmidt says they will need to be patient.
Tipoff is set for 7 pm. The game will be broadcast on Country 101.7FM.
At the 2A tournament at Manhattan, Hillsboro outscored Lyndon boys 51-45.
At the 5A State tournament being played at White Auditorium.
In girls’ semi-final games, Andover Central defeated Salina Central 65-56.
St. Thomas Aquinas outscored Lansing 64-44.
The boys play their semi-final games today.
Maize plays Kansas City Washington in the 3 pm game
Topeka West plays DeSoto in the 7 pm game.
