The Kansas Department of Health and Environment is adjusting its guidance for people obtaining the coronavirus vaccine and mitigation strategies — notably for home settings — after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention made a similar announcement earlier this week.
KDHE says fully-vaccinated residents can gather in private homes with other fully-vaccinated people, but they have to wait two weeks after their final dose to do so. Gatherings should be small but can take place without masks or social distancing.
KDHE also says fully-vaccinated people can be in the same home as unvaccinated people so long as unvaccinated people are from one household and are at low risk of developing severe illness.
KDHE’s guidance for public settings is not changing. Masks and social distancing are needed. Crowds and poorly-ventilated spaces should be avoided. Soaps and hand sanitizers should be used frequently.
