The Olpe Lady Eagles advanced to the semifinal round of the state tournament following a 91-27 victory over Flint Hills Monday.
The Lady Eagles capitalized off three consecutive turnovers to build a lead they never relinquished and kept their foot on the gas pedal throughout the first half leading 49-11 heading into the locker room. Olpe would go on to outscore Flint Hills 42-16 overall in the second half to secure their spot in the final four in Dodge City.
Olpe had four players in double figures Monday. Senior Macy Smith led all scorers with 16 points on the night. Freshman Kadey Robert had 15 points off the bench. Senior Hattie Fischer added 14 points and senior Marley Heins finished the night with 12.
Head Coach Jesse Nelson says his team came ready to play.
Flint Hills was led in scoring by junior Riggin Carney with nine points.
The Olpe Girls will play Jetmore-Hodgeman County in the second round at 3 pm Thursday in Dodge City.
The Olpe Boys will play Wichita Classical in the first round of the boy’s bracket at Kapaun Mt. Caramel Tuesday at 6 pm.
The Lyndon Boys advanced to the 2A Semi-finals after outscoring Erie 48-45 Monday night. Lyndon will play Hillsboro Thursday at 7 pm at Kansas States Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan.
Tuesday night the Waverly boys play Elyria Christian. The game tips off at 6 pm and will be played at Canton Galva High School.
