About 1,000 coronavirus vaccine doses will be administered this week through a variety of local clinics.
During the weekly COVID-19 Vaccination Briefing on KVOE’s Monday Morning Show, Flint Hills Community Health Center CEO Renee Hively said the Health Center will have 600 Moderna doses for a primary clinic Thursday targeting seniors — as well as doses for a revax clinic Friday.
Haag received 100 direct-shipped Johnson & Johnson vaccines for a clinic Monday involving higher education staffers, while the Health Center is sending its 400 Johnson & Johnson doses to Newman Regional Health for a clinic involving Hostess employees Friday. Graves Drugs will get 50 doses after starting an unofficial wait list recently, and Walmart and CVS are continuing their efforts at the same time.
The vaccination effort is moving into Phase 2A as more K-12 staffers, daycare providers and meatpacking employees or other critical workers get lined up for shots. Hively says things are progressing well as more people get scheduled.
About 1,200 people are still on the county’s wait list after that was closed down last week. Seniors that haven’t been vaccinated can still call the Public Health COVID-19 Hotline at 620-2083741 or go online to www.publichealth.lyoncounty.org to get on the notification list. Hively says there will be an adjustment at some point relatively soon that will let residents self-schedule their vaccinations, but the process hasn’t gotten to that point.
