Topeka Seaman outscored the Emporia High boys basketball team 60-56 in a substate semifinal Wednesday night.
Seaman used a 16-8 run to close out the game after Emporia High had taken a 48-44 lead with 3:40 to play in the game.
It was close all game long, Seaman led 14-13 after the first quarter and 26-20 at halftime. Emporia High would take a 40-39 lead into the 4th quarter. They led by 4 before Seaman closed out the game.
Emporia High Coach Beau Welch said they ran out of time.
Charles Snyder led Emporia High in scoring with 22 points. Parker Leeds added 15 points.
The Emporia High boys finish the season with an 8-13 record.
Topeka Seaman will play Topeka West in the substate championship game.
