Evergy says people falsely claiming to represent the company are approaching customer homes, asking to see customer bills and offering to install solar energy panels.
Spokesman Andrew Baker says Evergy does not do any door-to-door sales activity and employees rarely need to enter customer homes for any purpose. Baker also says Evergy employees will have company ID. They may also drive company cars and wear company-branded clothing.
If customers have questions, they can ask to see the ID or call 800-383-1183.
