The Emporia City Commission may formally accept a state grant to assist with sewer related maintenance during their regular action session Wednesday.
Last month, KVOE reported the city had received a $700,000 Kansas Small Cities Community Development Block Grant to assist with upgrades to sanitary sewer lift station two. Per the commission’s approval, the city will formally accept the grant which will cover a significant portion of the roughly $1.3 million project with the city responsible for covering the remainder of the cost.
A number of construction matters will also come before the commission including the potential awarding of a bid to APAC Kansas Inc. Shears Division for paving and construction work on 30th Ave. The commission may also sign an agreement with the Kansas Department of Transportation for a Community Connecting Link Improvement Program (CCLIP) surface preservation award of up to $300,000.
An emergency solutions grant for Family Promise of the Flint Hills, a bid for the 2021 Hazardous Sidewalk program, an agreement with Kaw Valley Engineering and several other constructions and improvement-related items will also see consideration.
The meeting begins at 1:30 pm inside the Municipal Courtroom at White Auditorium.
