Emporia’s largest business has received a major honor from a world-renowned business magazine.
Forbes has named Simmons Pet Food to its list of America’s 500 Best Midsize Employers. Forbes partnered with Statista to survey 50,000 people working for businesses with at least 1,000 employees. Those surveyed were asked to rate how likely they would be to recommend their employer to others. They were also asked to nominate other organizations they would recommend as well as places they would not recommend. The final list ranks the 500 midsize employers that received the most recommendations.
Simmons placed 57th overall and was the top food-related company on the list.
Simmons now employs over 1,200 people locally, and Chief Administrative Officer Russell Tooley says the Forbes recognition recognizes the company’s commitment to be “a company with a people-first culture.” He also listed “world-class benefits, a positive work environment and educational and advancement opportunities” as some of the factors that put Simmons on the list.
Simmons was formed in 1949. Its headquarters is in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.
