Local residents have until next Friday to stake their claim to a number of fabulous prizes up for auction courtesy of the Emporia Friends of the Zoo.
Despite the coronavirus putting a stop to a live in-person auction at this time, EFOZ still wanted to put on an event of some kind to keep with tradition as their annual Round-Up Auction typically takes place on the first Friday of March each year. Rather than taking place in person, however, this year’s auction will be completely virtual with ten items on the auction block.
EFOZ Board Erren Harter says the annual auction benefits EFOZ and expenses related to Zoo operations.
While the virtual auction will take place next Friday, Harter says they will be holding an in-person event sometime this summer, however, the exact size and scope of the event has yet to be determined.
You can find a full list of items online with this story at KVOE.com or by visiting the Emporia Zoo Facebook Page. The auction begins at 6 pm on the Emporia Zoo Facebook page.
