The Emporia State womens and mens basketball teams return to action Thursday night. They will be hosting Northwest Missouri State.
The Emporia State women will be looking for the regular-season sweep. Coach Toby Wynn says they need to be able to score off of turnovers.
The Emporia State men will be trying to even the season series. Coach Craig Doty says they will try to make the #3 ranked team uncomfortable.
Women tipoff at 5:30 followed by the men at 7:30p.
Both games will be broadcast on MIX 104.9.
As a part of Thursdays games the Emporia State women and men will be “making 3’s for James.”
Fans can pledge $1, $3, or $5 for every three-pointer made by the Emporia State women and men against the Northwest Missouri State.
Funds raised will benefit the family of 6-year-old James Nunley who has been diagnosed with leukemia.
He is the son of Angela and Michael Nunley. Angela is the cheer coach for Emporia State, while Michael played football for the Hornets from 2005-08.
The funs will help cover medical expenses not covered by insurance as well as raise awareness of childhood cancer and leukemia.
Pledges can be made by emailing athletics@emporia.edu.
The Emporia State women are among the 8 schools listed in the first Regional Listings. This year they are not ranking the teams but listing the teams that are under consideration for the NCAA Tournament. 6 teams will be selected. The Automatic qualifiers from the MIAA and Northern Sun and 4 at large teams will advance to the Central Regional Tournament that will be hosted by Central Missouri.
