As historic lows continue residents are doing all they can to stay warm and local retailers are working hard to meet the demand.
Lucas Hockenbury of Water’s Hardware says they are in short supply of heaters at this time as they have been “flying off the shelves” recently. He says other materials such as heat tape are also in high demand to protect home pipes.
Hockenbury says with these items coming off the shelves at such a rapid pace, there are some “old school” tricks that residents can also use to keep warm.
At Bluestem Farm and Ranch Supply Manager Bruce Burnheide says they are completely out of heaters at this time. Other popular items also include soft goods.
Burnheide also reminds residents that items such as heat tape and other materials for protecting piping are precautionary items and solution items meaning they are best applied ahead of frost activity and not during.
Sutherlands Assistant Manager Jeremiah Storrer says their portable heater inventory is completely exhausted.
Storrer says they have more heaters on order at this time, however, they likely will not have those available until next week once temperatures start to warm up. Storrer says they still have generators available, however, those are disappearing fast.
As the bitter temperatures continue with lows forecasted around -10 in the coming days, all stores remind shoppers to be mindful of others and only shop within their immediate needs.
